What is an “Evaluation”?
Evaluations are tests that appear between training sessions.
They objectively measure how much brain training has improved your overall cognitive performance.
Since you haven’t practiced these exercises before, improvements in your results show a transfer effect to higher cognitive functions, providing proof that your training is working!
The test on deductive reasoning is the most challenging for many users.
Does it feel difficult for you too? Don't worry, we’re here to help!
Below, we’ll take a closer look at the test, answer common questions, and explain the scientific background of the exercise.
Let’s dive in!
Basic Rules
The test consists of a 3x3 matrix with 9 boxes:
-
8 boxes are filled with images
-
The bottom-right box shows a question mark (?)
-
Below the matrix, you see 8 smaller answer images
Your task:
Identify the logical rules that connect the images across rows or columns.
Apply these rules to the last row or column and select the correct missing image from the 8 options provided.

FAQs and Tips
What is a “logical rule”?
Each matrix shown in the test contains images that are logically related to each other within the same row or column.
Take a close look:
Lines, shapes, colors, and other properties could all be part of the rule that explains the relationship.
What are examples of such rules?
-
Example 1:
Subtract all the lines from the first image from the second image. The remaining lines form the third image.
Additionally, a red square must be present in every image.
-
Example 2:
The filling status of the boxes increases by ¼ with each consecutive image.
How should I approach solving the puzzle?
Everyone has their own method, but here’s a suggestion:
-
Focus on one feature first (e.g., color, filling, position, or number of elements)
-
Try to find the rule for this feature within a row or column
-
If there's no clear answer yet, repeat the process with a different feature
-
Apply all identified rules to the last row or column and choose the answer that matches all rules
What can I do if I get stuck?
It happens to everyone, you’re not alone!
Here are some tips:
-
Many features may vary between images, but not all changes are meaningful.
If you can't find a pattern for a feature after one minute, ignore it and move on to another.
-
Almost no one finds the correct answer for every matrix.
If you're stuck after a few minutes, don't stress, simply continue to the next matrix.
-
Ignore diagonal rules, rules only apply to rows or columns.
-
When you've found the rules, it can help to say them out loud or write them down before applying them.
➡️ Take your time, it’s not timed.
-
The more often you practice these tasks, the easier they will become!
